Being one of the 3 most historical onsen in Japan, Arima Onsen is known as the emperor's royal onsen.
It is just located about 30 minutes away from Kobe or 60 minutes from Osaka.
Arima Onsen Town offers two types of distinguished and rare onsen - Kinsen (golden hot spring) and Ginsen (silver hot spring), making this town to be so differentiated from the other onsen towns. There are two public bath houses and many ryokans for you to enjoy an onsen bath.

Type of Onsens:
Kinsen is colored golden reddish-brown with high contents of irons and salts. It is said to be good for joint pain like arthritis, muscles aches and skin health.
Ginsen is colorless carbonic hot spring water containing radium and is said to good for muscle fatigue and joint pain.

Things to Do:
The town can be explored simply on foots. Strolling around the town, there are several onsen sources, nice shrines, restaurants serving traditional cuisines, a drinking fountain(Taiko no Insenba) and a Toy museum to be discovered.
Having parties with geisha, joining various festivals across the year, like the Sakura Festival and Arima Summer Festival can also give you a chance to have a touch of traditional Japanese culture.
